Mercedes nelení a postupne predstavuje nové a nové verzie svojich modelov. Najväčší zásah má aktuálne model GLS, ktorý sa predstavil ako AMG, ale, čo je ešte zaujímavejšie, aj ako Maybach.
Mercedes-AMG GLS63
Na autosalóne v Los Angeles si Mercedes odpremiéroval nové výkonné SUV. Vlastne ktorý autosalón by bol na toto viac adekvátny? Okrem GLS sa ukázalo aj výkonné GLE. Oba modely majú Panamericana prednú masku chladiča a rovnaký motor. Je ním 4,0 V8 s dvomi turbami. Dosahuje výkon 450 kW (612 k) a krútiaci moment 850 Nm. Systém pohonu všetkých kolies dokáže poslať na zadnú nápravu celý výkon. Ľahšie GLE dá stovku za 3,8 sekundy a GLS sa prehupne cez 4 sekundy.
Mercedes-Maybach GLS600
Nech je AMG akokoľvek zaujímavé, ten pravý vrchol nesie meno Maybach. Nebudeme sa zaoberať lacnou verziou, čo má vzadu gauč pre troch. Môže mať rozdelené sedadlá. Deliaci element je dlhý stredový tunel, ktorý môže obsahovať chladničku a držiak na strieborné čaše, ak bude čo oslavovať.
Vozidlo je stále GLS, ale môže sa odlíšiť dvojfarebným lakovaním, má logá Maybachu na poslednom stĺpiku karosérie a špecifickú masku chladiča s hustým vertikálnym lemovaním. Na ľahšie nastupovanie vie vysunúť nástupný schodík a klesnúť nižšie. Po nastúpení čaká pasažierov len tá najjemnejšia koža a hýčkanie a opatera. Ak ho chce šoférovať sám majiteľ a nebude mať na to personál, tak môže ovládať systém MBUX. Možno by sa mu ale hodilo oslovenie „Hej, Maybach“ a mal by mať len angličtinu s výrazne britským prízvukom.
Vrchol luxusu nemôže byť pomalý. Ale je pomalší ako AMG. Pod kapotou je ten istý základ, 4-litrový prepĺňaný osemvalec, ktorý má výkon 410 kW (558 k). Pomáha mu aj EQ Boost s 16 kW (22 k). Krútiaci moment motora vrcholí hodnotou 730 Nm, pričom EQ Boost pridáva 250 Nm. Výrobca udáva spotrebu v cykle WLTP na úrovni 12 litrov. A na stovke je za 4,9 sekundy. Maximum je tradične pre Maybach obmedzené na 250 kilometrov za hodinu. Stále hovoríme o SUV s hmotnosťou 2,5 tony. A konkurenti? Teoreticky by to mohla byť nejaká verzia BMW X7 M50i, ale tam budú absentovať niektoré hyperluxusné prvky. Maybach GLS skôr zaloví vo vodách Rolls-Royce Cullinan a Bentley Bentayga.
